Production is beginning next month in Australia on Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, the Guillermo del Toro-produced remake of the ’73 telefilm, and Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison have joined the cast.
Pearce starred in L.A. Confidential and went on to tackle genre fare such as Ravenous and The Time Machine redo. Madison appeared in Bridge to Terabithia. They’ll be co-starring alongside Kate Holmes.
According to THR, Pearce is playing an author whose daughter (Madison) discovers dangerous creatures in their house. Holmes is the girlfriend.
Troy Nixey is directing the picture for Miramax. Mark Johnson co-produces.
