Warner Bros. “Messed Up” Orphan Ads?

Adoption agencies lash out

The ad campaign for Warner Bros.’ July horror film Orphan is making adopted children weep.

In a recent ABC News report, foster care groups are in an uproar over the Jaume Collet-Serra (interview) film and how it is being marketed, notably with the inclusion of the line, “It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own.” Execs at Warner Bros. are stepping forward and claiming they “messed up” and will re-cut the trailer to remove the “offensive” line.

You can read more about it here, but what do you think? Did Warner Bros. have to bend? Especially to those that are clearly not the audience for this film? Give us your thoughts below.

Orphan opens in theaters on July 24th.
