Platinum Dunes, Universal Drag Out Their Ouija

Berenbaum to turn game into thriller

Ah, the return of the Ouija Board.

Universal Studios and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes are at work with Hasbro for a feature film centering around the infamous board game. Hasbro tapped writer David Berenbaum (Elf) to pen the script before partnering with Universal. Plot details are being shrouded in secrecy at the moment, but don’t expect a Jumaji-esque romp. Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce.

According to Variety, Universal has a six-year partnership with Hasbro, manufacturers of the Ouija Board since 1966. Films like Witchboard and, most recently, Paranormal Activity have used the board to infuse frights in their plots.
