Jason is coming back to General Hospital, but fans of the character should be prepared for some big changes, according to Steve Burton. In a recent podcast appearance, the actor shed light on some big changes that await the character in the coming weeks. Jason is slated to appear in the soap opera on July 13, 2026.
Steve Burton promises a shift for Jason’s story on General Hospital
Jason is coming back to General Hospital after a significant hiatus. Back in February, Burton announced that he was taking some time off from the show. Jason last appeared on the show in March.
Burton, however, returned to the set on June 1, 2026. Now, Jason is also set to come back to the show, but there could be some big changes. “Been a lot going on. Had a lot of good scenes. And it’s good, man,” Burton said on the latest episode of the That’s Awesome podcast he co-hosts with friend and castmate Bradford Anderson.
“We’re shifting directions a little bit, which is gonna be interesting for fans, so get ready!” he added.
Anderson pressed Burton for further clarification, asking him if the change is centered on Jason or if the entire show sees some kind of change.
“Everything that has to kind of do with Jason and his world,” Burton continued, “That’s where the shift is going to take place.” Burton also credited the writers for approaching the material with renewed freshness. “I think [the writers] did a really good job. It’s really giving me something to play, which is nice,” he added, “It’s gonna be interesting. It’s shaking things up, which is gonna be a lot of fun.”
So, fans can expect some very exciting things this July on General Hospital. Of course, the exact changes will be clear once Jason actually returns to the show.
