In this captivating true-crime drama, a 15-year-old girl learns that her father is the infamous serial killer known as the Happy Face Killer. As the season finale airs this Thursday, the show leaves viewers in suspense about what lies ahead.
So, will there be a Season 2? Here’s everything you need to know about the future of Happy Face.
Is Happy Face Season 2 canceled by Paramount+?
Happy Face is neither canceled nor renewed for Season 2 by Paramount+.
As of now, there is no information regarding the continuation of the show or the potential release of Happy Face Season 2. As the finale approaches, the storyline is expected to wrap up. The creators originally designed the show as a limited series, so the chances of the show expanding seem quite slim.
However, the podcast on which the series is based did have a second installment that a second season of the show could draw inspiration from. The second season of the original Happy Face podcast explored the journey of another woman grappling with the reality of being the child of a convicted murderer. Therefore, there exists a possibility that the creators may consider extending the series. Still, no update has been given yet by producers.
The Happy Face series made its debut on March 20, 2025, with a total of eight episodes. The platform releases new episodes weekly on Thursdays, with the first two made available from the premiere date. The network has scheduled the season finale for May 1, 2025.
Jennifer Cacicio created the series, drawing inspiration from Melissa Moore’s 2018 podcast Happy Face. She also drew motivation from Moore’s 2009 autobiography, Shattered Silence, co-written with M. Bridget Cook. The narrative unfolds as Melissa learns that her father is Keith Hunter Jesperson, a notorious serial killer. In this gripping psychological thriller, she grapples with the disturbing legacy of her father. As she collaborates with the FBI, long-buried traumas emerge, complicating the distinction between justice and personal redemption.
The series’ cast features Dennis Quaid, David Harewood, Annaleigh Ashford, Khiyla Aynne, James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, and many others.
