In recent weeks, the sudden removal of pastor Steve Lawson from Trinity Bible Church has raised questions and sparked discussions within the community. Known for his extensive experience and leadership, Lawson’s firing has left many wondering about the reason.
So, what happened to Steve Lawson, and why was he fired? Here is everything you need to know.
Why was pastor Steve Lawson removed from the Trinity Bible Church?
Pastor Steve Lawson has been indefinitely suspended from his role at Trinity Bible Church in Dallas, Texas. It comes following the revelations of an “inappropriate relationship” with a woman. The church’s leadership made the announcement, stating they became aware of the situation “several days ago.” (via USA Today)
In their communication, Trinity Bible Church did not specify the nature of the relationship or identify the woman involved. They mentioned that the elders have met with Lawson and plan to support him through prayer, aiming for his personal repentance. As a result of these developments, Lawson will no longer receive compensation from the church.
Lawson, aged 73, has a long-standing career in ministry. He has served over 40 years in Arkansas and Alabama before joining Trinity Bible Church. The church acknowledged the gravity of the situation while reminding the congregation of the message of redemption in Christianity. The message read: “In light of this, may we be reminded that we are ALL sinners, and Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners – and Christ remains Head of His Church, which is bigger than any fallen man. In fact, Jesus Christ will continue to lead His Church, including Trinity Bible Church here in Dallas, just like He has from the start of this work on Jan. 5, 2018.”
During this challenging time, the statement concluded with a call for prayers for the church community, its leaders, and Lawson and his family. Lawson, a graduate of Texas Tech University, holds advanced degrees in theology. He has authored 33 books and has preached in over 14 countries throughout his career.
