Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 1, “Tokyo Blade,” begins with a stage play introducing its characters, which include Blade, Tsurugi, Kizami, Monme, Touki, and Princess Saya. The introduction is followed by applause echoing through the theater hall. The episode takes viewers to the first day of rehearsals, where Aqua Hoshino and Akane Kurokawa practice a scene together. Aqua plays the role of Touki, while Akane is Princess Saya in the stage play.

Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 1 then reveals the rest of the cast members — Kana Arima as Tsurugi, Melt Narushima as Kizami, and Sakuya Kamoshida as Monme. Later, the episode shifts its focus to Ruby Hoshino standing at the Hoshino family grave.

She narrates everything that has happened in the past four months. Talking to the grave of her mother, Ai Hoshino, she shares her experience as a B-Komachi idol. Ruby states they have conducted a few small concerts, uploaded videos online, and gradually gained fans.

She also talks about her brother, Aqua, narrating how he acts in a play despite not wanting to become an actor. Additionally, talking about Akane, she mentions her brother has a girlfriend that he met through a realtiy show but says he is dating her for work’s sake. Finally, she expresses her desire to perform at the Tokyo Dome, which Ai could not accomplish.

What happened in Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 1?

When Akane talks about her passion for acting, Aqua reflects on his true motive for participating in the stage play. He intends to utilize his participation to get closer to the truth surrounding Ai’s death. He wants to dig information out of the play’s director and Lala Lai’s leader, Toshirou Kindaichi, who supposedly had some influence on Ai.

The stage producer, Sumaki Raida, spectates the rehearsal and analyzes everyone’s acting skills. While he praises the actors, Taiki Himekawa grabs everyone’s attention with his performance. Moreover, his performance allows Kana to mirror his energy and give an astounding performance, impressing everyone.

Akane observes Kana’s assertive acting and notices various groups have been formed among actors. However, Aqua sits alone, prompting Akane to approach him. As Aqua dissects Kana’s acting skills, he asks Akane to step up her game if she wishes to outshine Kana, making her jealous.

Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 1 ending explained

Akane thinks about the script, contemplating Princess Saya’s character, who has minimal scenes in the manga and the script despite being Touki’s love interest. This is because Touki’s pairing with Tsurugi, which is popular among fans of the manga, overshadows Princess Saya. Due to less emphasis on Saya’s character, Akane has to fill the gaps in her character purely based on imagination.

Aqua compels Akane to share her frustration with the scriptwriter, GOA, and the director. However, GOA explains the modifications in Saya’s character are necessary due to the lack of stage time. Akane accepts the decision, albeit with reservations.

The episode concludes with an appearance made by Tokyo Blade and Sweet Today’s authors, Abiko Samejima and Kichijouji. They watch the play and commend everyone’s acting skills. In the end, Abiko hesitatingly gets up and demands the script be completely rewritten, shocking everyone.
