While the main narrative in the season is focused on the love story between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), fans have noticed Welsh actress Banita Sandhu making an appearance in the show. Who is Banita Sandhu?

The child of a first-generation British Indian Sikh couple, Banita Sadhu hails from Caerleon, Wales. She made her Indian film debut in Shoojit Sircar’s October (2018) opposite Varun Dhawan. Her performance in the film as Shiuli Iyer earned her a Filmfare nod for the Best Female Debut.

Since then, she has starred in The CW series Pandora (2019-2020), the Tamil film Adithya Varma (2019), the Hindi film Sardar Udham (2021), and the British production Mother Teresa & Me. Bandhu has also appeared in Diljit Dosanjh’s “Jind Mahi” and AP Dhillon’s “With You” music videos.

Who plays Miss Malhotra in Bridgerton Season 3?

Banita Sandhu portrays Miss Malhotra or Sita Malhotra in Bridgerton Season 3. The character makes her debut within the first five minutes of the season 3 premiere. The voiceover of Lady Whistledown notes that Miss Malhotra is one of the “newly-minted” debutantes of the season, describing her as “exquisite” and “quite a catch.” Later, Miss Malhotra takes part in the competition to win the “Diamond of the Season” title.

Sandhu took to Instagram to thank Netflix and Shondaland for the experience. “So grateful to have had the opportunity to immerse myself in the Bridgerton universe, being able to dress up and join the world of @juliaquinnauthor’s incredible characters,” she wrote in the caption.

“Thank you @netflix and @shondaland for a wonderful experience that I will forever cherish. Wish I could keep the costumes though,” Sandhu added.
