Did Garp die in Chapter 1088 of the One Piece manga?
Following the events of Chapter 1088 in the manga, Garp’s current status is unknown.
In Chapter 1088, the Marines encounter the Blackbeard Pirates at Hachinosu Island. The chapter starts with a flashback of Garp when Koby was still training. He tells them that if they had to save a baby and an old man stranded on an island with beasts and the boat could only hold two people, they should go for the baby. When Koby says he’ll get off the boat to save the old man and the baby, Garp tells him it’s wrong. Garp says taking the baby is the right choice because he believes in the youth’s great potential.
Going back to the battle, Pizarro’s trying to crush the Marines’ ship with a gigantic hand created from the island. Garp explains to Koby, Helmeppo, and Prince Grus his plan of saving everyone. This involves Garp creating an opening for Koby to destroy Pizarro’s hand.
They start moving and Garp uses Galaxy Divide to break the island’s skull-shaped rock formation in half. Meanwhile, Koby manages to break Pizarro’s hand using Honesty Impact. Garp calls Tashigi, saying the mission was a success. Tashigi tells him to return immediately, but Garp tells them to leave. He says he’ll figure a way out and that they should keep moving forward.
The Blackbeard Pirates surround Garp, who’s lying on the ground with an ice sword piercing through his torso. The next day, the paper calls Garp “missing in action” after rescuing Koby in Hachinosu.
Who killed Garp in One Piece?
Garp’s current status in One Piece remains unknown.
The last we hear of him is after the rescue mission at Hachinosu, where he fought the Blackbeard Pirates. Kuzan (Aokiji) was standing in front of Garp after impaling him with a big sword made of ice in chapter 1088. In chapter 1087, Shiryu stabbed Garp.
