Fans are wondering if Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum will reprise their roles as Clark Kent and Lex Luthor in the Smallville animated sequel series. Interestingly, Rosenbaum recently offered an update on it. Here is what is currently known.
Are Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum returning for the Smallville animated series?
Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum are currently not locked in to return for a Smallville animated series, which they are reportedly co-developing. However, according to Rosenbaum, they are both keen on returning.
In a recent exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Rosenbaum was asked about the animated Smallville sequel show that he and Tom Welling are developing alongside the original series creators. Rosenbaum stated that it was “a great idea” but that it was also something that needed to happen at “the right time.”
Rosenbaum also mentioned that he and Tom Welling would like to voice their characters from the original series. Moreover, he revealed that the rest of the original cast is also interested:
“All I could share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar], the creators of Smallville backing us up. When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this; pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and right now is not the right time.”
He went on to say, “We had the strike, we had a change of executives at DC — one being one of my best friends in the world, James Gunn. When the time’s right, I think it’s something that’s a no brainer, unless they have other ideas. We’d like to do it — the whole cast would like to do it. They would voice their own character from the show, and we have a concept of what the show is.”
