Created by Binnur Karaevli, The Protector is a Turkish superhero fantasy drama series streaming on Netflix. It is based on Nilüfer İpek Gökdel’s book Karakalem ve Bir Delikanlının Tuhaf Hikayesi or A Strange Story of Charcoal and a Young Man. The plot revolves around Hakan Demir, an unassuming shopkeeper in Istanbul, who becomes the eponymous protector of the city and is tasked to defend it from the powerful Immortals. The series premiered on December 14, 2018, with Season 4 debuting on July 9, 2020. If you are wondering whether there will be a fifth season of the show, this is what we have discovered.
Here’s all we know about The Protector Season 5 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there The Protector Season 5 release date?
There is no The Protector Season 5 release date as the series came to an end with the fourth season.
Netflix reportedly announced The Protector’s returns for Seasons 3 and 4 together and later revealed that the fourth season would also be the show’s last. Season 4 offers a satisfactory conclusion to the story (Spoilers warning for those who haven’t watched the series finale). Most of the immortals are forced to take the mortality potion. Faysal escapes this and has a climactic confrontation with Hakan, who kills him. As the series ends, Hakan and Zeynep share a kiss.
The cast includes Çağatay Ulusoy as the Last Protector / Hakan Demir, Hazar Ergüçlü as Zeynep Erman, Okan Yalabık as Faysal Erdem / Hüsrev Hodja, Ayça Ayşin Turan as Leyla Sancak, Burçin Terzioğlu as Rüya Erdem / Cavidan, Funda Eryiğit as Nisan Türk / Valeria, Engin Öztürk as Levent Demir, Yurdaer Okur as Kemal Erman, and more.
Why The Protector Season 5 isn’t happening
The Protector Season 5 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the series ended after four seasons. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.
The official synopsis for The Protector reads:
“The epic adventure of Hakan, a young shopkeeper whose modern world gets turned upside down when he learns he’s connected to a secret, ancient order, tasked with protecting Istanbul.”
