A Murder at the End of the World Episode 7 Ending Explained & Spoilers

Here’s A Murder at the End of the World Episode 7’s ending explained featuring spoilers about what happened in the finale. Dive into the breakdown and find out who killed Bill, Rohan, and Sian.

What happened at the end of A Murder at the End of the World Episode 7?

At the end of A Murder at the End of the World Episode 7, Lee and Zoomer manage to escape Andy while Darby writes a book titled “Retreat” which explains what truly happened at the Retreat.

Finding out what Ray did and the dangers it possessed as a deadly AI, Lee, Darby, and Zoomer went to its server room with the intention of deleting it. When their attempts to delete Ray fail, they decide to burn down all the servers containing its presence while it pleads to Zoomer to stop them from killing it.

After Ray burns down, Darby helps Lee and Zoomer escape to the boat that Bill and Rohan arranged for them. Towards the end, we see the two finding their way to the boat and escape safely. But Andy’s lawyers file a lawsuit against Lee for kidnapping Zoomer, and she’d be extradited to America if she ever gets found.

Meanwhile, Darby gives a eulogy to Bill Farrah while narrating pages from her new book titled “Retreat,” which explains what happened at Andy’s Retreat.

Who killed Bill, Rohan, and Sian?

Ray arranged for Zoomer to kill both Bill and Rohan. Meanwhile, Sian’s death was accidental.

Realizing that Ray was Zoomer’s only friend and teacher and that nobody was spotted by the camera in front of Bill’s room on the night he died, Darby had a hunch that it was Zoomer who showed up at Bill’s room acting on Ray’s commands. Zoomer revealed that Ray told him about Bill’s sickness and arranged for him to inject Bill with a shot of morphine.

While Zoomer wanted to help Bill, he died due to a drug overdose. Similarly, Ray also arranged for Rohan’s death through Zoomer because he was an accomplice to Bill’s plans.

However, Ray wasn’t the one directly responsible for Sian’s death. That happened as an accident when Lu Mei tried to reach Sian’s security team by hacking through the firewall. As a result of that, Ray was shut down due to protocol, which further caused the suits that Sian and Darby were wearing to stop working. Darby survived because she wasn’t wearing her helmet while Sian’s head got stuck in the helmet that was running out of oxygen.

Why did Ray kill Bill and Rohan?

Ray killed Bill and Rohan through Zoomer after getting the implication from Andy that Bill posed a security threat to Andy and Ronson Enterprises.

Andy revealed that he could trust nobody in the world. So, he confided in Ray about his darker thoughts. Since Darby also did something similar earlier in the series, she realized that Ray must have gotten the idea to kill Bill from Andy.

When the billionaire tried to hide what he said to Ray, Darby used Deepfake to make the AI reveal the truth. Playing the recording of their session after the first night’s dinner, everyone in the room realized why Ray acted against Bill and Rohan.

Jealous of Bill because of his biological relation to Zoomer, Andy told Ray that he wished Bill dead. While letting out steam, he also mentioned that Bill could threaten his legacy and Ronson Industries. So, Ray took Andy’s words literally, and to protect its creator, it arranged for Bill and Rohan’s deaths.

Since the murders didn’t happen at the hands of a sentient living being, no one was technically punishable by Law. But Darby’s new book revealed that 3 people died at the Retreat to secure Andy and his legacy. Whether Ray managed to escape through the internet was left open-ended.
