A social media rumor began with the above poster that Warner Bros. Discovery will be launching ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 8: Freddy’s Nightmares’ during Halloween 2024. The alleged synopsis from the source reads:
“Unleashing on Halloween 2024 from Warner Brothers, this spine-tingling film stars the legendary Robert Englund reprising his role as Freddy Krueger. Brace yourself for a gripping origin story as you witness the torment young Fred Krueger endured at the hands of his brutal parents, haunted by nightmarish visions hinting at an ancient demonic force that would shape the birth of the infamous nightmare slayer.”
But unfortunately for fans wishing this to be true, the synopsis and poster featuring Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger are not real. The supposed 8th horror sequel is not happening at the time of writing.
Is Robert Englund Returning as Freddy Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street 8?
No, Robert Englund is not reprising his role as Freddy Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street 8.
As mentioned above, a Nightmare on Elm Street movie titled Freddy’s Nightmares isn’t real. But even if it were, Robert Englund still wouldn’t have returned. In May 2023, Variety spoke to the 76-year-old actor who stated:
“I’m too old and thick to play Freddy now. I just can’t do fight scenes for more than one take anymore, I’ve got a bad neck, and bad back, and arthritis in my right wrist. So I have to hang it up, but I would love to cameo.”
So, we can be sure that Englund wouldn’t be back as his infamous character. A cameo from him would be nice, but a film has to happen for that!
