Is Mel still pregnant in Virgin River Season 5 part 2?

Unfortunately, Mel is not pregnant in Virgin River Season 5 Part 2. She lost her baby due to a miscarriage.

Mel Munroe is no longer pregnant in Virgin River Season 5 Part 2. She had a miscarriage while trying to help residents of Virgin River as massive wildfires tore through town. Shortly after Mel discovered that she was bleeding profusely. Soon she performed an ultrasound to check the baby’s status and was heartbroken by her discovery that the baby had died. Even though she was heartbroken, she remained focused on treating the victims who suffered from the wildfires. It is unknown exactly what caused Mel’s miscarriage.

The loss of Mel’s baby instilled in her a great fear of trying for another pregnancy. She then told Jack that she did not want to get pregnant again and that they would need to find other ways to expand their family.

The actress who plays Mel Munroe, Alexandra Breckenridge, revealed to Netflix Tudum that Mel’s pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage was an important story she wanted to tell, despite the sadness of the plot’s events. She also revealed that upon talking to a friend of hers who had faced fertility issues, she wanted to tackle the story more honestly.

Breckenridge also expressed to Tudum that Mel’s miscarriage affected her in more ways than it did for Jack. However, she said that both Mel and Jack would find their way around it together as a couple and also because of the strong bond they share with each other.
