Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie: Why Are the FNAF Actors on Strike?

With the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie trending worldwide after its launch, fans are wondering why the FNAF actors’ strike is on. Here’s the reason its actors are currently on strike.

Why are the Five Nights at Freddy’s actors on strike?

With the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, all FNAF actors and American actors in general are on strike. They aren’t allowed to shoot new projects or promote FNAF and other movies in any way.

The SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike began on Friday, July 14, 2023. Since then, all actors part of the American actors’ union have been on strike. They haven’t been allowed to film or sign new projects with studios. Furthermore, they cannot promote their latest movies or TV shows either, as per the SAG-AFTRA guidelines.

Hence, the FNAF actors strike is also ongoing and the film had to rely on its trailers, merchandise, and its relation to the video game series it’s based on for promotion. Surprisingly, the FNAF movie managed to perform extremely well despite its actors being unable to promote it in any way.

When will the FNAF actors stop striking?

The FNAF actors will automatically stop striking when the SAG-AFTRA strike is over.

While the WGA writers’ strike has been lifted, negotiations between studios and SAG-AFTRA are still ongoing. At the moment of writing, the actors’ strike has lasted 111 days. But with the two parties meeting regularly, the strike is expected to be over by the end of 2023, if not November itself. That is when the FNAF actors would also return to work, taking on future projects.

The cast of the film features Josh Hutcherson in the lead. Others involved in the Emma Tammi-directed movie are Elizabeth Lail, Mary Stuart Masterson, Kat Conner Sterling, and Matthew Lillard.
