Does Kaz cameo in Gran Turismo?
Yes, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has a small part in the live-action movie.
It’s a small part, and you might miss it if you blink. While in the film Kazunori Yamauchi is portrayed by actor Takehiro Hira, the real Kaz also appears in the movie. Shortly after Jann Mardenborough signs his contract with Nissan in Japan, he and Audrey go to a sushi restaurant and compliment the chief. That man is none other than Kaz himself, the man behind the beloved video game.
Is that Jann’s real PSN username?
Yes, the Gran Turismo movie shows Jann’s real PSN username.
As revealed by Mardenborough himself in an interview, fans can spot his real PSN username during the scene where he’s qualifying for GT Academy in the top left corner.
Jann’s gaming rig
The movie also features Mardenborough’s exact replica of the gaming rig he used to qualify for GT Academy. At the time, he customed it by painting it Art Deco way. Mardenborough, who also served as producer and consultant for the project, asked director Neill Blomkamp to add it to the film.
The helmet colors
The colors the Mardenborough portrayed by Archie Madekwe wears on his helmet are the same ones the real Mardenborough dons when he races. Mardenborough is a former gamer turned professional driver thanks to his efforts on the Gran Turismo video game series.
