The Widow’s Veil is used by Nick Fury in Secret Invasion episode 5. Here’s how Nick Fury changed his face at the airport and what it could mean for the final episode of the show.

Secret Invasion Widow’s Veil

What is the Widow’s Veil in Secret Invasion?

The Widow’s Veil in Secret Invasion is a photostatic mask that can replicate a person’s face and voice.

Nick Fury uses the Widow’s Veil to disguise himself as a white male as he moves through airport security in Finland.

The Widow’s Veil was first seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when it was used by Black Widow to infiltrate the World Security Council. She used it to sneak past HYDRA operatives. Black Widow also used the veil in her own movie.

Also called the “Photostatic Veil” or “Nano Mask,” the Widow’s Veil can be seen in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier TV shows.

What is the new version of the Widow’s Veil?

The new version of the Widow’s Veil can cloak the user’s entire body.

As confirmed by Nick Fury when quizzed by Sonya Falsworth, the new version of the Widow’s Veil is capable of changing a person’s entire body, emulating another entirely.

The ability to copy a person’s entire body and voice is similar to the ability possessed by the Skrulls.

While it might appear to be a small passing comment, Fury’s mention of an upgraded Widow’s Veil could mean that we see the enhanced variant in the final episode of Secret Invasion. Seeing Gravik defeated at the hands of a fully-cloaked Nick Fury would be a poetic end to the fight.
