Is Karen Allen in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny?

Karen Allen returns as Marion Ravenwood in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Producers have teased the beloved character’s return on several occasions, including showing Allen’s name on a film poster and production notes. While the promotional materials never mentioned Marion directly, it’s rare to see an actor portraying a different character in the same franchise or timeline. Without spoiling what’s going on with Indian Jones (Harrison Ford) and Marion in Dial of Destiny, ComingSoon can confirm the spirited and independent Marion returns, and her complicated relationship with Indy is a pivotal part of the story.

Marion first appeared in the 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. Introduced as the daughter of archaeologist and Indy’s mentor Abner Ravenwood, Marion has a complicated romantic history with the titular hero, and their relationship is a central aspect of her character. The story mentions Marion and Indiana Jones were in love in the past before Indy abruptly left her, but the quest to find the Ark of the Covenant rekindled their romantic feelings. Marion also returned in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, where she and Indiana had a son called Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf). However, they separated after a brief period of marriage.

In addition to Raiders of the Lost Ark, Allen is also known for 1978’s Animal House, where she landed her breakthrough role as Katy. Her credits include Starman, Scrooged, and The Sandlot, among others.
