Holy Crap! Nintendo Releasing SNES Classic Soon!
Hold my beer, NES Classic, I see something I really, super-duper need to have in my life right now. Announced today, Nintendo confirmed that they are releasing a mini version of the Super Nintendo along with 21 of the console’s most memorable games PLUS one game that was never released.
The SNES Classic comes with an HDMI cable, a charging cable, and two wired retro Super NES Classic Controllers. That’s perfect for some multiplayer gaming such as kicking your friend’s ass at Super Mario Kart and Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting.
The Classic Controller and the Classic Controller Pro are both compatible with the SNES Classic. Just plug and play and you’re set to go.
Unlike the NES Classic, the games lineup is not only bigger but also full of genuinely amazing games that we still talk about to this day. I mean…gamers are still playing these games either through emulators or on the 3DS via Nintendo’s online store. Believe me, the following games have all aged a lot better than the NES ones.
Contra III: The Alien Wars™
What’s odd is that Nintendo says you’ll have to beat the first level of Star Fox to unlock Star Fox 2. From the press release: “Even for super fans who have played all of these games multiple times, the inclusion of the never-before-released Star Fox 2 game will offer them something entirely new to enjoy – if they can unlock it by proving their skills in the original Star Fox game. (Well, they only have to complete the first level – we didn’t want to make it too hard!).”
The SNES Classic will become available on September 29, 2017 for $79.99. Retailer info isn’t out just yet, but do keep an eye out. If last year’s hoopla over the NES Classic is any indicator, this one will fly off the digital pre-order shelves faster than you can click a button.
