Aliens: Dark Descent Showcases Single-Player Strategy

There is no shortage of Xenomorph action available on modern gaming systems, but there’s always room for one more. Aliens: Dark Descent premiered during Summer Game Fest, with a cinematic trailer that imagined a harrowing war between space marines and Twentieth Century’s famous alien menace.

Gameplay was also revealed at the end of the trailer, showcasing an isometric view for this new tactical shooter. Customizable marines participate in real-time combat with various alien forces, and they all operate as a force controlled by a single player. The developer promises intuitive controls that let players execute special character abilities and slay opposition forces with relative ease.

Dark Descent takes place in a new corner of the Aliens universe, letting marines take on a new breed of Xenomorph that call planet Lethe home. The marines are trapped on this unknown world and need to gather resources to repair their spaceship and escape this unforeseen threat.

The teams at Focus Entertainment and Tindalos Interactive promise that Aliens: Dark Descent provides a new genre experience, and the idea of an XCOM game with a single-player focus could be quite interesting. The game is set for release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC when it bursts from containment in 2023.
