The creative studio behind the Wallace & Gromit franchise, Aardman Animations, is working on a new, open-world video game based on an original IP.

As noted by TechRadar, according to a recent job listing on the studio’s website, the studio is looking to focus on “inventive mechanics and compelling characters imbued with the [humor], love, and craftsmanship you’d expect from Aardman.” The job listing also describes the upcoming game as a “mad, open-world” title that fits into the “3D action-adventure genre.”

Due to the game being an original IP, the job listing doesn’t note any other major details, aside from the team saying that they’re looking to create an “amazing, hilarious, surprising, and varied” group of characters, each with their own defined lore. The listing also mentions “PC and console” as their target platforms, so it’s unclear exactly what platforms we can expect this on as of now.

While not much else is known about the game, Aardman Animations did announce in 2020 that it had teamed up with major publisher Bandai Namco to develop a new IP. Due to some of the language in both announcements, it’s possible that this upcoming game is the product of that partnership.

Despite being best known for their work in other entertainment fields, Aardman Animations is no stranger to the world of video games. Most recently, the studio co-developed 2018’s 11-11: Memories Retold with DigixArt. The stylized World War I-era narrative adventure game starred Elijah Wood and was released to generally positive reviews.
