CrossfireX Gets Release Date Announcement at Game Awards

Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy Entertainment has been working on a single-player portion of CrossfireX, as was announced in 2016 an shown in 2019, that will sit alongside Smilegate Entertainment’s free-to-play multiplayer portion. After being delayed, the game was still slated for 2021, which is rapidly coming to a close. But the game will not make it in time before the end of the year, as the Game Awards’ CrossfireX trailer revealed the title’s release date. The first-person shooter is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 10.

There will be two campaign stories: Operation Catalyst and Operation Spectre. Both of these will follow the private military factions Global Risk and Black List and will have three episodes each.

And while Remedy’s portion is a single-player affair, it will will sit alongside the Smilegate Entertainment-developed multiplayer. But even though the multiplayer is free-to-play, the campaign is only for those who pay. A price for the campaign has not been given yet.

While CrossfireX might not be a household name in some areas of the world, it is immensely popular, especially within some Asian countries. The multiplayer shooter has garnered over 1 billion registered players as of February 2020.
