With the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch OLED model, Nintendo has announced that the original Switch model would be seeing a price drop in Europe.

“Nintendo of Europe is changing the European trade price of the Nintendo Switch console to retailers,” Nintendo of Europe told Eurogamer in a statement on Monday. “More than four and a half years after its first release, Nintendo Switch continues to have strong sales momentum in Europe. After carefully weighing up a variety of factors, including currency exchange rates in Europe and the upcoming launch of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, we decided that now was the appropriate time to change the European trade price of Nintendo Switch.”
While Nintendo doesn’t officially set its own prices for hardware in Europe, the company has announced what the “appropriate” prices for its now three models of Nintendo Switch hardware should be, which other retailers will most likely be following. The new prices for each console is now:
- Nintendo Switch Lite: £199.99
- Nintendo Switch: £259.99
- Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: £309.99

Nintendo has yet to comment on if price changes will take effect across other areas, but it wouldn’t be too shocking to see other retailers around the world begin to adjust pricing as the Nintendo Switch OLED model becomes more prominent. The $349.99 OLED model isn’t releasing until October 8 alongside Metroid Dread so the hardware maker still has plenty of time to cut the price elsewhere.
