Synopsis:

The following is from the DVD cover:

“Can two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy?

They’re TV’s nuttiest roommates! In Neil Simon’s ‘The Odd Couple,’ sportswriter Oscar Madison (Emmy® winner Jack Klugman) is a bachelor living in slop, who wreaks havoc on a room with the speed of a tornado. Felix Unger (Emmy® winner Tony Randall) is a hypochondriac, whose cleanliness is just another form of craziness. Oscar lives for the moment, Felix lives for the opera. While Oscar enjoys Felix’s cooking, Felix enjoys cleaning Oscar’s bedroom. They’re the perfect mismatch! Join them and Murray The Cop, the Pigeon Sisters and the Poker Players in an impeccably assembled comic masterpiece. All 24 First Season episodes have been remastered onto 4 discs. Also included is a 5th Bonus Disc, featuring 4 of Jack Klugman’s and Tony Randall’s favorite all-time series episodes.”

Mini-Review:

I haven’t seen an episode of “The Odd Couple” in years. I was actually surprised that its first season hadn’t been on DVD until now. Fortunately, they really went all out on the bonus features. Garry Marshall provides audio intros for each of the episodes. If you’ve ever heard him on other DVDs, you know how much energy he brings to the extras. And though Tony Randall passed away in 2004, Jack Klugman joins in for many of the bonus features. These days it seems awfully hard to get the actors involved with the DVD, but everyone chips in here. You’ll even find original TV promos, a gag reel, and footage from 1993 where Randall and Klugman performed in “The Odd Couple” on stage. There’s a lot more including Klugman’s Emmy win, Book Tour home videos, and an appearance by Randall and Klugman on The Mike Douglas Show. Overall it’s a fantastic offering of bonus features for a TV series DVD. Fans of “The Odd Couple” should be quite happy.
