This Week on Blu-ray and DVD: June 16, 2015

Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top entertainment hitting this week on Blu-ray and DVD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, TV series sets and catalogue titles hitting shelves on Tuesday, June 16.

Things kick off this week with Chappie, the third film from District 9 and Elysium‘s Neill Blomkamp. If you’ve yet to add any of his films to your collection, you’re in luck! This week also sees the arrival of a three-film box set, Blomkamp 3.

Other recent big screen releases include the Blumhouse horror thriller The Lazarus Effect, the Liam Neeson-led Run All Night, and the Vince Vaughn comedy Unfinished Business, while, on the indie side of things, we’re getting Time Lapse, a sci-fi thriller starring “The Flash’s” Danielle Panabaker, and Welcome to Me, an offbeat comedy drama starring Kristen Wiig as a somewhat mentally-unbalanced woman who, after winning the lottery, decides to create her own television show.

This week also brings two more Studio Ghibli titles to HD, including the Academy Award-winning Spirited Away and the Whisper of the Heart spinoff feature, The Cat Returns.

When it comes to the Criterion Collection, it’s all about Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn this week. My Dinner with Andre gets a Blu-ray upgrade while Jonathan Demme’s recent A Master Builder comes home for the first time. Both films are also available alongside the previously-released Vanya on 42nd Street in Criterion’s 3 Films box set.

Once again, Scream Factory has a pair of cult classics debuting in HD with a double-feature disc offering both 1961’s giant prehistoric lizard bonanza Reptilicus and 1977’s killer octopus adventure Tentacles.

On the small screen front, this week brings us the third and final season of HBO’s The Newsroom along with, available on DVD only, massive complete series sets for classic sitcoms The Odd Couple and Laverne & Shirley.
