CNN’s Blindsided Documentary: Where Is Ex-NFL Star Michael Oher Now?

CNN’s latest documentary, Blindsided, challenges the blockbuster film The Blind Side’s take on Ex-NFL Star Michael Oher. The documentary, now available to stream on Max, highlights the strained relationship between Oher and the Tuohy family. His backstory with the Tuohys is one such misconceived story under public scrutiny after he filed a lawsuit against the family.

The documentary further delves into The Blind Side’s inaccuracies about Oher’s life and career. Besides, it also explores his life now as a retired NBA legend and disputes with the Tuohy family.

Where is former NFL star Michael Oher now?

According to a People Magazine report from August 2023, Michael Oher, who is now retired from the NFL, married his college sweetheart, Tiffany Roy, in November 2022. The couple have four children – sons Kobi and MJ and daughters Kierstin and Naivi. Earlier this year, in August, Oher also published a book titled “When Your Back’s Against the Wall.” He co-wrote the book alongside Don Yaeger and now resides in his $1.3 million house in Brentwood, Tennessee, with his family, as per Distractify.

Oher’s story first garnered critical attention after The Blind Side’s release in 2009. The acclaimed film even received an Oscar for his life’s portrayal. However, the former NFL legend filed a petition against Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy in August this year. The father-of-four alleged that instead of adopting him, the family filed a conservatorship that kept millions of dollars from him.

The People Magazine report stated that the Tuohys tricked Oher, then 18, into becoming his conservators. The legal filing said, “Michael trusted the Tuohys and signed where they told him to sign. What he signed, however, and unknown to Michael until after February 2023, were not adoption papers, or the equivalent of adoption papers.”

Oher’s allegations also claimed that the family received $225,000 for The Blind Side. Moreover, they got 2.5% residual checks over the years since its release. The former NFL star claimed he does not make residuals from the same film. In addition, CNN reports that a Tennessee judge eventually ended the Tuohys’ conservatorship over Oher.
