Mondo unveils new line of Marvel Mecha toy figures with Spider-Man!
After three years of development, Mondo is proud to officially unveil the first figure in their Marvel Mecha line Spider-Man Mecha, inspired by the label’s love for manga and Japanese mecha designs from the ’80s and ’90s and has also created a limited-edition symbiote version of the figure, both of which can be viewed in the gallery below!
Once having received the blessing from Marvel, the team at Mondo decided to move forward and design a line of large scale figures based on that idea alongside an original manga storyline that will come packaged with the unique collectibles developed by Mondo’s Tim Wiesh, who also wrote original stories that will accompany each figure in the new line.
“The Marvel Mecha line of collectibles began with a question, ‘How cool would it be to see Peter Parker pilot a 100-foot robot and fight giant monsters?!” Mondo Creative Directors Toys & Collectibles Hector Arce and Michael Bonanno said in a statement. “We were able to let our imaginations run wild building a mythology around a world where our favorite Marvel heroes could exist as mecha.”
The official logline for the webslinger’s story reads as follows:
Spider-Man is only the first Marvel character to get the Mondo Mecha treatment, with Black Panther and Captain America next in line to throw down with city-stomping kaiju. The two suits, designed by Remy Paul and sculpted by Jay Kushwara, are set to retail for $160 and $170 respectively and are currently available to pre-order!
