The ongoing fantasy C-drama Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact, starring Gong Jun and Yang Mi, released episode nine on May 26, 2024. The episode primarily focuses on Tushan Hong Hong (Yang Mi) putting her life in danger to save Yuechu (Gong Jun).
Hong Hong hands Princess Bu Tai the list containing the names of the possible suspects while also mentioning that the investigation is not over. The princess expresses her gratitude for helping her find the truth about her father’s poisoning. Hong Hong ensures that Yuechu (Gong Jun) has been secretly following Gujin, the head of the spirit slaves. Since he is close with the spirit lord, Hong Hong believes that he might lead them to her.
The spirit lord continues to manipulate the slaves against humans. One of the spirits overhears her, instructing Xu to kill Bu Tai if she gets in the way. But before he could inform his companions about the spirit Lord’s secret, she gets a hold of him. She confesses to using the spirits as sacrifices for her mission before mercilessly finishing him off.
Meanwhile, Yuechu reaches the hideout, following Gujin. After Ren Feng catches him lurking around, a dangerous fight breaks out between them. Shi Ji intervenes and notices the heaven and earth thread on him. She gets elated, thinking she has found a way to defeat Tushan Hong Hong.
As soon as Hong Hong sees the fragment of the mystical thread, she senses the impending danger on Yuechu. She does not wish to waste another second and goes out to search for him.
Meanwhile, Fu Cheng extracts an antidote for Yuechu and sneaks inside the prison to meet him. Hong Hong arrives at the gateway of Shi Ji’s hide-out, but her powers are not strong enough to break its spell.

In order to enhance her spirit powers, Hong Hong consumes the half-spring snow with healing properties. But the downside of it is that it will only last for an hour and will severely damage her body. Meanwhile, Shi Ji plans to stall Hong Hong until the effect of the snow wears off.
Ren Feng does not trust the spirit lord’s abilities. He decides to extract the spirit blood from Yuechu’s body but is defeated by him. On the other hand, Hong Hong is able to escape Shi Ji’s magical trap.
When Ren Feng refuses to hand over the antidote or the mother talismans, Yuechu trickily poisons him with the fire candle, forcing him to bleed out the spiritual blood in his body. Enraged, he attacks Yuechu with full force. Hong Hong arrives at the spot in time to save him. Ren Feng narrowly escapes.
Hong Hong and Yuechu decide to rest in the desert until her scars are healed. It sways Yuechu’s heart that Hong Hong put her own life at risk to save him. He uses his spiritual powers to treat her wounds.
Meanwhile, Xu, possessed by Shi Ji, sneaks inside Ba Tai’s bedchamber at night. As soon as she notices his odd aura, he attacks her. But Ya Ya arrives there just in time, saving her from impending doom. But Ya Ya is not strong enough to block her deadly attacks. Lai and Ba Tai’s guard Shi join hands with Ya Ya to stop the evil spirit.
Yuechu shows Hong Hong the mother talismans he managed to recover from Ren Feng. But instead of praising him, Hong Hong scolds him for repeatedly endangering his life.
