During the “Revue Starlight 3rd StarLive ‘Starry Diamond'” concert in 2019, it was announced the series would receive two films based on the franchise. The first film, titled Rondo Rondo Rondo, is a compilation film; it was originally slated for a May 29, 2020 release, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second is the upcoming Revue Starlight movie, which is titled after the series itself.
Revue Starlight is a Japanese media franchise created by Bushiroad, Nelke Planning, and Kinema Citrus. The franchise has used multiple media types to tell its story, including a musical, an anime series, a mobile game, and manga adaptations. The anime television series and films are directed by Tomohiro Furukawa and animated by studio Kinema Citrus. The films are produced by Revue Starlight Production Committee.
The Revue Starlight movie was set for a May 21 release. However, similar to Rondo Rondo Rondo, the film was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will now hit theaters on June 4.
