Demon Slayer Movie Blu-ray Release Set for December

After posting some big numbers in the box office, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will be getting a handful of Blu-ray releases later this year, Aniplex and Funimation announced on Wednesday.

First up, the movie will be hitting stateside towards the end of the year, with a home release set for December 21, 2021. A Limited Edition Blu-ray of the film will be also released from Aniplex of America, with the special collection coming bundled with an original soundtrack CD, a deluxe booklet, a rigid box with exclusive art by character designer Akira Matsushima, a special digipak featuring art by Ufotable, and audio commentary with English subtitles from Natsuki Hanae, Akari Kito, Hiro Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and Satoshi Hino. Pre-orders for the Limited Edition Blu-ray are live now on Right Stuf Anime for $69.98.

The Standard Edition Blu-ray for the film will be available from Funimation and can be pre-ordered on their shop right now as well as on other online retailers, with a retail price of $34.98.

The Demon Slayer movie did incredibly well at the North American Box Office. Back in May, it was announced the film surpassed $45 million in the NA region making it the number two anime movie of all time. The only film above it is Pokemon: The First Movie, which premiered back in the United States in 1999.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train is directed by Haruo Sotozaki. Aniplex of America and Funimation handled distribution of the film for Australia, North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba began as a manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. The anime television adaptation aired between April and September 2019. Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train is a direct sequel to the film. The anime is also being adapted into a video game titled Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles.
