Crew Member Dies on the Lone Ranger Set

Walt Disney Studios has confirmed a TMZ report that a crew member died today on the set of The Lone Ranger.

The movie was not being shot today, but the crew member was reportedly a diver preparing a tank when something went wrong. “We’re told someone on the crew called 911 to report a medical emergency … and when responders arrived to the scene the man was in full cardiac arrest. He was helicoptered to a nearby hospital, but EMTs were unable to restart his heart on the flight. Law enforcement sources tell us he was pronounced dead at the hospital,” said the site.

Disney released the following statement: “We regretfully confirm that a Lone Ranger crew member has passed away after being taken to a local hospital. Our hearts and thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this time, and our full support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this terrible event.”

Directed by Gore Verbinski, The Lone Ranger is scheduled for a July 3, 2013 release. Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter star.
