Mandalay Vision announced today they will produce, along with Vertigo Entertainment, Academy Award-nominated director Marjane Satrapiâs (Persepolis) psychological thriller The Voices, which she will direct from an original script by Michael R. Perry (Paranormal Activity).
The story centers on Jerry Hickfang, a lovable but strange bathtub factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting. When their relationship takes a sudden murderous turn, Jerryâs evil âtalkingâ cat and benevolent âtalkingâ dog lead him down a fantastical path that ultimately brings him to salvation.

Mandalay Visionâs Matthew Rhodes and Cathy Schulman will co-produce the film with Vertigo Entertainmentâs Roy Lee, whose credits include The Departed, The Ring, The Strangers, and The Grudge. Mandalay Senior Vice President Adam Stone will produce and oversee the project forMandalay.
Casting is underway for an early 2013 start of principal photography.
