Asylum of Darkness Reveals the Horrific Side of Richard Hatch

Late actor Richard Hatch stars in Asylum of Darkness, coming next week from Wild Eye Releasing

We lost Battlestar Galactica legend Richard Hatch (he played Apollo in the original ’70s series and Tom Zarek in the Syfy remake) earlier this year, but before he passed, he appeared in a handful of low-budget genre films, among them Asylum of Darkness, a hospital-set creeper directed by Jay Woelfel and also starring Trancers veteran Tim Thomerson and indie horror icon Tiffany Shepis. The shot-in-35mm film (a rarity in this digital age) hits VOD on April 11th from Wild Eye Releasing.

Synopsis: After awakening in a mental asylum, a patient plans his escape to freedom while fighting off supernatural forces in both the real world, and some that may only live inside his head. But once on the outside,  he learns that the life awaiting him is more twisted and dangerous than anything he could conjur in his head, one that is luring him back to the asylum forever.

Written and directed by Woelfel (Season of Darkness, Trancers 6), the film stars Golden Globe winner Hatch, Thomerson, Tiffany Shepis, Nick Baldasare, Amanda Howell and Frank Jones Jr.
