Tom Hardy to Play a Navy SEAL in Netflix’s War Party

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises) is attached to star in War Party, an adventure pitch from director Andrew Dominik (Killing Them Softly, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) which Netflix has paid seven figures for. The deal is for Dominik to direct and co-write with Harrison Query.

Netflix beat out Amazon, Universal and Lionsgate for War Party, which is based on true life events of a group of real Navy SEALS. After working with Hardy on his hit FX period drama Taboo, Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Films will produce the film.

Hardy is next slated to reunite with director Christopher Nolan once again for Warner Bros.’ WWII epic Dunkirk, which opens on July 21. He is signed on to co-star with Mahershala Ali and Channing Tatum in J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier, and is also set to portray legendary gangster Al Capone in Josh Trank’s Fonzo.
