Defenders First Look Brings the Four Heroes Together

Marvel and Netflix have given Entertainment Weekly a first look at Marvel’s The Defenders, coming this summer. You can check out the Defenders first look video and cover below. The magazine writes:

Each Defender has arrived separately at the offices of Midland Circle (a name that should sound familiar to Daredevil fans as the shady operation behind a giant, literal plot hole in season 2), and none of them expected to cross paths. But before they can properly meet and greet, the four have wound up trapped in the middle of a corridor and must brawl their way past a group of enemies. (Hey, Marvel loves hallway fight scenes ever since Daredevil pulled one off.) “Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York,” explains showrunner Marco Ramirez, who produced Daredevil‘s first season before co-showrunning the second. “We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?’”

The Defenders stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten RItter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist. In addition, Elden Henson will be reprising as Foggy Nelson along with Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Eka Darville as Malcolm, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Elodie Yung as Elektra, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. It has been hinted that Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher will return for the series as well, but that remains unconfirmed.

Academy Award and Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Sigourney Weaver has also joined the cast as the villain for the series, though who she will torment the heroes as remains to be seen.

Marvel’s Daredevil showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie serve as showrunners and executive producers along with Drew Goddard, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Director S.J. Clarkson (Marvel’s Jessica JonesDexter) will direct the first two episodes of the culminating mini-series event. The eight-episode series will premiere in 2017 along with Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Punisher
