Aardman and StudioCanal Announce the Start of Early Man

Aardman and StudioCanal today announced that Nick Park’s new prehistoric comedy adventure Early Man has officially begun production, with the first character animation released to show more of the film’s hero Dug and his sidekick Hognob as cameras start rolling.

Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of how plucky caveman Dug, along with sidekick Hognob, unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game. It also marks Nick Park’s first feature film since the Academy Award-winning Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Early Man unleashes an unforgettable cast of hilarious new characters.

Eddie Redmayne was previously announced as the voice of Dug, with further casting announcements expected in the coming weeks.

Early Man continues the production partnership with Aardman and StudioCanal following the success of Shaun the Sheep The Movie, written and directed by Richard Starzak and Mark Burton. StudioCanal is co-financing and will distribute in its own territories, the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, selling worldwide. The BFI (British Film Institute) is also a partner on Early Man.

Early Man will open in the UK on January 26, 2018, in France on January 31, 2018, and Germany and Australia/NZ on March 29, 2018.
