Christopher Young Contributing to Box of Shadows

The man behind the score for Hellraiser and more

The team behind the upcoming film by Mauro Borrelli’s Box of Shadows has announced that composer Christopher Young is lending his talents to the score.

Just a few examples from Young’s exhaustive resume: Hellraiser, The Fly II, Spider-Man 3, The Grudge and Drag Me to Hell.

“I watched an early cut of [Box of Shadows] and loved what I saw,” said Young. “I got my start in horror movies and still love those kinds of films, so I was happy to accept producer Ed Polgardy’s invitation to create the main theme for the movie and the evil music box.”

Box of Shadows tells the story of a group of college-age friends who find a mechanical coffin that allows them to experience the world as ghosts. Music plays an important role in the film because the coffin contains a mysterious music box that, when activated, triggers the ghost transformations.

Young developed the main theme and several coffin themes, which are being utilized by the movie’s other composer, José J. Herring. Young is currently working on Priest for director Scott Stewart and producer Sam Raimi. Director Mauro Borrelli was thrilled to get Young on board, since he has been a fan of his work for many years.

Box of Shadows is currently in post-production and slated for release later this year. Watch some behind-the-scenes videos here.
