Whedon’s Cabin Opens Its Doors for Actors

Casting begins on mystery horror project

Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods nabbed its first two actors: Richard Jenkins (The Broken) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing). Plot details on the film, co-written and directed by Drew Goddard (writer of Cloverfield), are still under wraps, however, THR says the two will play white-collar types connected to the titular cabin.

“They’re the first proof that though Cabin in the Woods is a classic horror film, it isn’t one you’ve seen before,” Whedon says.

It’s still far too early for any real buzz over Cabin in the Woods to sweep through the community, but I have a sneaking suspicion that things will certainly ramp up in a few months when principal photography begins. This is supposedly one to keep a close eye on. The script is said to be terrific – a refreshing spin on the conventional horror scenarios we’ve scene in which a group of folks are trapped out in the woods.

MGM has the film slated for a February 5, 2010 release.
