Niles Addresses Nail, Tyrannosaurus Rex Talk

Is the film close to the graphic novel?

Steve Niles has come forward with a statement regarding the parallels the online community is drawing between The Nail, a comic book he collaborated on with Rob Zombie, and the latter’s forthcoming film Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Since the project’s announcement, rumors have circulated that T-Rex is an adaptation of the Dark Horse-published Nail. Buzz grew louder yesterday when Zombie presented a T-Rex promo piece (here). Feathers were ruffled when astute fans noticed the main character carried a certain resemblance to The Nail‘s main protagonist – an aging wrestler.

“People seem to be under the impression that Rob is doing ‘The Nail’ and cutting me out. This is not true,” says Niles. “Not only is ‘T-Rex’ a different story, but also Rob is 100% owner of ‘The Nail’ and is welcome to cherry pick anything he wants. It’s his concept. I was just along for the ride. There are NO issues between Rob and I.”

The Nail, published in 2004, launched Niles and Zombie’s Creep Entertainment International banner. Niles adds, “Creep might be dormant at the moment, but we are not ruling out more team-ups down the road.
