Danny Boyle Hopes to Shoot His Trainspotting Sequel Next Summer

Danny Boyle talks to ComingSoon.net about the Trainspotting sequel

Earlier today, ComingSoon.net had a chance to speak with Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle about his excellent new film Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender as the co-founder of Apple, and before wrapping up, we asked him whether there’s been any forward progress on his plans to direct the Trainspotting sequel since our last update.

Earlier in September, he said that it would be his next movie if he could get the actor’s schedules together and apparently that’s been worked out.

“It’s May and June next year we shoot and we’ve got a terrific script,” he told us. “We’ve got the four main actors all eager and willing to do it. I’m very happy because my only (concern) was that the script would be good for two of them and not so great for the other two, and they’d feel obliged to come back, but they’ve all got good stuff, and it’s a very interesting look at them again. Hopefully, we can get it finished in time to release it in 2016 which is the 20th Anniversary year, so yes, we’re on it, and it’s looking good.”

Originally to be called Porno and to be based on Irvine Welsh’s 2002 novel set in the pornography industry and featuring some of the characters from Trainspotting, that title has been set aside (probably for obvious reasons) and Boyle joked about a potential alternate title for it:

“No, we’re going to try and call it ‘T2’ but there might be some issues there with James Cameron. I’ll have to beg and we’ll have to go to James Cameron and say ‘What do you think?”

Look for more from our interview with Boyle before the October 9 release of Steve Jobs in New York and Los Angeles. It will be released nationwide on October 23.
