Five Minute ‘Hannibal’ Comic Con Trailer, Plus a Fourth Season Clarice Starling Tease

To be honest, I’m not expecting a fourth season of “Hannibal“. In this instance I think pessimism is the best course of action with a bit of hope remaining. With both Netflix and Amazon passing at the idea of future distribution things don’t look so good for the entirely original (and not at all typical network) program, but that we don’t have to wallow in despair just yet. There is still plenty of season three to devour.

After doing weekly recaps and reviews for the first four episodes of this season I found myself DVR’ing, but not watching the latest episode. this seems to be a typical move for me and, honestly, had NBC sent me screeners of each episode I would continue to watch them early, but since they haven’t I feel a binge is best for my schedule. So I’ll be watching last week’s episode, this week’s episode and perhaps I’ll even wait for next week’s episode before returning to this season. With that said, however, a new, five-minute trailer from Comic Con has arrived if you’re interested in seeing what’s in store.

As we already know, the Red Dragon (played by Richard Armitage) will be making his appearance this season, and while showrunner Bryan Fuller, speaking with EW said, “I think this finale wraps up the television series in a really good way,” he’s not without plans for the future, which he suggests would include Clarice Starling with his choice for the character being Ellen Page, or perhaps even a non-white actor and “have race play a factor in her character.”

To that point Fuller says the third season finale could possible serve as “a platform for a launch in a new version of telling the story”. What that means I’m not entirely sure. Graphic novel? New novels? Fan fiction? Movie? What?

Either way, “Hannibal” isn’t done yet, so sink your teeth into this latest episode and stay tuned, I’m not done talking “Hannibal” just yet.
