‘Mission: Impossible 5’ Attracting Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson

New reports have Alec Baldwin and “The White Queen” star Rebecca Ferguson in talks to star in Mission: Impossible 5 for director Christopher McQuarrie.

The duo would join Tom Cruise who’s once again reprising his role as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt along with fellow returning stars Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg, both having starred in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol while this would be Pegg’s third film in the franchise.

Baldwin will reportedly star as a high-ranking CIA officer overseeing Hunt’s division, similar to the role played by Laurence Fishburne in Mission: Impossible III. Meanwhile, Ferguson will play the female lead, a role once tipped for Jessica Chastain who had to turn the role down due to scheduling conflicts. Reports say the role requires months of intense training leading up to the shoot and during.

Mission: Impossible 5 was scripted by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) and is set for a December 25, 2015 release. [Deadline / Variety]
