‘Bond 24’ Gets New Writers, ‘Snowpiercer’ Theaters, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Gets an ‘Avatar’ Day

Neal Purvis and Robert Wade wrote the first draft of Skyfall only to see John Logan come in and give the script a rewrite and get all of the attention. Now the tables are turned as Purvis and Wade have been brought in to rewrite Logan’s James Bond 24 screenplay. As a result, a source says the production has been delayed and “won’t begin till December, a few months later than they wanted.” Bond 24 is set to hit theaters on November 5, 2015. [Daily Mail]

Universal has pulled The Loft from its planned August release. The studio also moved horror-thriller As Above, So Below two weeks later to August 29.

Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is in talks to direct a remake of the 1981, World War II soccer drama Victory in which allied POWs prepare for a soccer game against the German National Team to be played in Nazi-occupied Paris, the French Resistance and British officers are making plans for the team’s escape. Gavin O’Connor wrote the screenplay. [THR]

Kevin Bacon has joined the cast of Scott Cooper‘s Black Mass starring Johnny Depp as White Bulger. Bacon will play Charles McGuire, the FBI Special Agent in charge of the Boston field office and John Connelly’s (Joel Edgerton) boss. [Deadline]

Finally, Marvel has announced they are pretty much doing what Fox did with James Cameron‘s Avatar and offering free screenings of 17 minutes of James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy in IMAX 3D on July 7. The “event” is taking place in 150 IMAX theaters all over the world, click here to get your ticket.
