‘Iron Man 3’ Opens with $68.5 Million on Friday

With $68.5 million coming in on Friday alone ($15.6m from midnight screenings), Iron Man 3 is targeting a $170 million opening weekend, which would give it the #2 all-time opening over Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which opened with $169.1 million in 2011.

In terms of opening days, Iron Man 3‘s $68.5 million, should that estimate hold, places it around the #7 all-time opening day opposite The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which also brought in $68.5 million back in 2010.

Otherwise, Pain & Gain brought in $2.3 million and 42 delivered $1.8 million. I’ll have the complete top ten for you tomorrow. [ERCBoxOffice]
