First Look at James Franco’s Cannes Entry ‘As I Lay Dying’

Seeing James Franco‘s As I Lay Dying as one of the films included in the Un Certain Regard selection at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival was a bit of a surprise, largely because Franco’s films so far have had the appearance of low budget, experimental pet projects. But, as the first picture above helps conclude, this one is clearly more than that.

As I Lay Dying is based on the 1930 classic by William Faulkner, telling the story of the death of Addie Bundren (Beth Grant) and her family’s quest to honor her wish to be buried in the nearby town of Jefferson.

Pictured above is Franco as Darl Bundren, Addie’s second oldest son, and “True Blood” star Jim Parrack as Cash Bundren, Addie’s eldest son. Additional members of the cast include Danny McBride, Logan Marshall-Green, Ahna O’Reilly and Tim Blake Nelson.

This will likely be one of the more anticipated films going into the festival merely out of curiosity. I know I’m interested in seeing how it turned out.
