Reznor, Ross and Klyce Discuss the Sound and Music of ‘The Social Network’

When I posted the Soundworks Collection’s The Social Network it received a warm online welcome and was watched by several folks. This made me quite happy because of one scene in particular, which gave people that may otherwise not be so clear on what sound mixing and design exactly entails a better understanding of the process and just what kind of effect it can have on a film.

In terms of sound, however, the other aspect of The Social Network many keyed on, primarily due to the fact Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails was involved, was the film’s score. Working with Atticus Ross, Reznor’s score earned a ton of post-release attention and now the Soundworks Collection has posted a 45-minute question and answer session with Reznor, Ross and sound re-recording mixer, supervising sound editor Ren Klyce. Check it out directly below and if you haven’t yet watched the other feature I mentioned click here to do so.

Meanwhile, The Social Network was named the best film of 2010 by “Sight and Sound” magazine ahead of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Another Year, Carlos, The Arbor, Winter’s Bone, I Am Love, The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu, Film Socialisme, Nostalgia for the Light, Poetry and A Prophet.
