It almost seems as if Dennis Hopper’s obituaries were all written in early April as he got his star on the Walk of Fame on March 26 and it was made known the prostate cancer that would take his life two months later was terminal. On top of the Manohla Dargis tribute I referenced in my short obituary yesterday, one day earlier Matt Zoller Seitz posted the following video essay that runs nearly 25 minutes long and simply uses Hopper’s performances along with a selection of public appearances such as “Late Night with David Letterman” and an extremely memorable Nike commercial.
Above all the video reminds you of exactly everything you may have forgotten about Hopper and why so many are referring to him as a legend and an icon.
