Toronto Crix Give ‘Queen’ Royal Treatment

The Toronto Film Critics have weighed in with their opinion on the films of 2006 and finally a group isn’t licking the golden bum of Clint Eastwood for his two sub-par films this year as The Queen, a far more worthy film, dominated the festivities with five major accolades including Best Picture, Best Actress (Mirren), Best Supporting Actor (Sheen), Best Screenplay (Morgan) and a tie with Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne for Best Director for Stephen Frears.

On top of that there was a little surprise by way of Sacha Baron Cohen’s win for Best Actor for Borat and I am beginning to wonder how much these pre-Oscar accolades for Cohen are going to pay-off once the Oscars roll around. You should weigh in on his chances at the Golden Globes in our use poll right here, he is currently trailing Johnny Depp.
