The Expendables Headed to TV as an Event Series

Deadline reports that the Sylvester Stallone-created franchise “The Expendables” is headed to television! FOX is developing the franchise as an event series which is being described as a “fun action drama.” The producers of the series are planning to use it as a vehicle to unite iconic TV stars “as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist.”

Stallone will produce the series along with the films’ producer Avi Lerner. Ride Along‘s Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward will write and executive produce the event along with “NCIS: LA” executive producer/showrunner Shane Brennan.

Despite being less-than-well received, the three “Expendables” films have grossed over $780 million at the global box office. A female spin-off, titled The Expendabelles is still in development, with the outlet noting that a fourth and fifth “Expendables” are also in the cards at Lionsgate.
