Spider-Man: Brand New Day nearly featured a crazy Daredevil crossover before it was cut. The actress, associated with the character in several Netflix shows, recently opened up about her near-MCU debut before it was cut from the final edit.
The highly anticipated superhero movie brings back Tom Holland as the fan-favorite Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It is helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton with an ensemble cast also featuring Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
Further, Jon Bernthal will also make a special and vital appearance in his iconic role as Frank Castle/The Punisher.
What Rosario Dawson revealed about the scrapped appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Rosario Dawson recently opened up about how she actually made her MCU debut with her return as Clare Temple from Netflix’s Daredevil era. The actress filmed a scene for the character in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, the scene was eventually cut from the movie, and fans won’t get to see her at all.
While speaking at GalaxyCon, the Ahsoka star said, “I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out,” according to IGN.
The update perfectly aligns with previous rumors and leaks that hinted at Dawson’s role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. One trusted insider, Daniel Richtman, claimed last year that she would make a comeback as Clare Temple in Brand New Day.
Seems like the old reports were legitimate, but after Rosario Dawson’s confirmation of her cut scene, it’s clear that the MCU movie won’t feature her at all.
Speaking more of the 47-year-old’s role as Clare Temple, the character was first introduced in the Daredevil TV show on Netflix. The character is basically a hero-helping nurse who treats vigilantes. Later, she even made appearances in other Marvel shows on Netflix, namely Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Temple had a prominent presence in shows like Luke Cage and The Defenders.
In the MCU, Daredevil: Born Again has witnessed the return of almost all the popular characters from Netflix’s Marvel shows. However, Clare Temple is still missing from the popular TV series.
As for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the movie hits theaters this week on July 31, 2026.
